August 2026 Postcard

ABOUT THE PHOTO

This photo was taken on August 20, 2026.

Sometimes I feel hesitant about using photos like this for this postcard club. It's a little less conventionally beautiful than a colorful neon sign or a famous landmark, but it is my favorite photo I took this month.

I drove around St. Louis on Thursday night and this light and basketball hoop really caught my eye. Because there was no other light around, it had a little bit of a liminal quality—a garage completely removed from context. The texture of the door and the grass were the cherry on top.
